Geronimo Stilton and the Kingdom of Fantasy #6: The Search for Treasure product reviews

One word describes this book: Mousetacular!!!!

We usually read the Thea Sisters and have only read one other Geronimo Stilton book, which was not bad. I was not expecting a lot out of this book and was really surprised at how much I personally enjoyed it. It had witches and fairies, heroes and villans, loved how everything mysterious was popping up all the time. Also enjoyed reading about different varieties of fairies.

As with all the books it has the very funky writing and awesome pictures, so no page is ever dull. It has the footnotes and also explanations of items, but this book also had puzzles/challengers which was fantastic for my five year old to complete and my three year old to have a go with. There is a word quiz and also a counting puzzle which was great (although not so much at the end of the night just before bedtime). It had more to it then just the story.

The chapters are nice and short about 4 to 5 pages long and I loved how they showed detail maps of the areas, houses, forests, underwater world. It just gave you so much more to invest into the story. We would read a couple of chapters a night and both girls got really into it. My daughter was unwell on Monday so we read a lot during the day and luckily read the 'scary part' during the day light.

I loved the blue rider - the hero of the story, the best of the best - his mission is to go around saving people who are in distress. It is brilliant for children and the plot giveaways are fantastic. It was so cute when the Blue Rider was reunited with his true love and she was about to die and he said 'I was going to invite you to the movies' like seriously not what I was expecting, but for children it is perfect.

My daughter who is learning to read loves reading the funky words and even read bits of the story herself. When I first suggested she tries to read the book herself she was rather concerned about how big it was - 310 pages long which is huge to a five year old, so we shared. I guess when you look at all the pictures and take out all that you would be lucky if its 200 pages long, but it is still epic.

This book will suit or school age kids who love adventure, romance, bad guys and magic. Its brilliantly written and keeps a good pace. It is not complicated at all and with the aids throughout the book it is rather easy to guess what is going to happen next. Love It!!

My son (age 7) loves Geronimo's adventures in the Kingdom of Fantasy - there are always fantastical places to explore and plenty of colourful characters to meet.This is the sixth book in the Kingdom of Fantasy series and since we already have the other five it made sense that we would get this one too.

In this book Geronimo finds himself back in the Kingdom of Fantasy which is once again in grave danger. In order to save it Geronimo must fulfil the ancient gemstone prophecy.

We love returning to the Kingdom of Fantasy and this book is very refreshing with a whole new cast of interesting characters. Geronimo is his same old scaredy cat self which provides plenty of humorous moments but he still manages to pull off what at times seems like an impossible mission. The story is fast paced and action packed with everything from fairies and witches to trolls and talking fish. It held my son's attention well and there was a lot of begging for 'just one more chapter, please' - always a sign of a good book. I love the hard cover and detailed illustrations with the additional maps that show each new area on Geronimo's journey. The differing font colours and sizes make each page interesting but some of the words are a little bit hard for young readers to make out because of it.

All in all another fabumouse Geronimo Stilton adventure - I hope there'll be many more to come!

Mr Four and I are now totally hooked on Geronimo Stilton books and most nights we have our noses in one of these fabulous books. When we got The Search for Treasure: The Sixth Adventure in The Kindgom of Fantasy, we were very excited. Just holding this book in our hands felt special. It is one of the hard cover versions and it really added to the appeal of the book.

As with all the Geronimo Stilton books, we love the style of writing, the use of colour and font type to enhance the experience for young readers. Mr Four enjoys listening to the stories as he isn't yet ready to read the books by himself. He loves looking at the illustrations and the variations in the text.

This book has quite a bit of rhyme spread throughout the book and Mr Four enjoyed trying to work out what word would finish the sentence in order to rhyme with the other lines in the poem.

Throughout the book, there were maps and Mr Four and I enjoyed stopping to look through the map. He would find the next number as I would read out what he would find at that number. This is a good number sequence activity for a younger child and also begins their journey with learning about reading maps. It worked well to allow Mr Four to interact with the book, rather than just listening to me read it to him.

It did take us a little longer than usual to get hooked into this particular Geronimo Stilton book. After the initial hiccup we found that we were totally engrossed as per usual. That was a relief as we would both have been very disappointed if we hadn't walked away from the book addicted as always. As time moved on, we did find it hard to stop at the end of a chapter and often found ourselves continuing on to read several chapters in one sitting. The book is a bit over 300 pages and it took a number of weeks for us to get through it. We did find that the further on in the book we went, the more chapters we would read in one sitting as we couldn't stop.

The story itself, is full of adventure and inspires imagination in children and adults alike. There is a good mix of magic and mystery. There are good characters and evil characters. There is a strong message to children to beware of false friends and there is an underpinning message about the fact that people are not always who they seem. This is a good message to discuss with children as they are likely to be in positions in their lives where they have to make judgements about whether to listen to and / or follow others. They need to think through carefully before blindly following.

Overall, it is yet another fantastic Geronimo Stilton book. We will go on to read many more books in the series as we are yet to be disappointed!
