Thankless in Death product reviews

He looked at his hands, covered with her blood, at the spreading pool of red on the floor, the wild spatters of it on the walls. An artist, he mused. Maybe he should be an artist. Murder doesn't stop for Thanksgiving. As the household of NYPSD Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her billionaire husband Roarke prepares for an invasion of family and friends, an ungrateful son decides to stop the nagging from his parents - by ending their lives. Soon Jerald Reinhold is working his way through anyone who has ever thwarted him in his path to an easy life. Eve is increasingly frustrated in her efforts to cover all the potential victims as Jerald stays a terrifying step ahead. As the festivities begin, Eve is desperate to identify which victim on Jerald's long list will be the next, so she can stop the killing spree...

This book is set around Thanksgiving, so the title is rather apt for this round in the series. Eve is nervous, preparing for the onslaught of Roarke's family for the holiday when a husband and wife are found brutally murdered. Right from the start the police know who the killer is, the hard part... Trying to work out his motivation behind it and then once they've worked it out.... Figuring out just who is on the killers hit list and in what order, so that they can stop him before it's too late.

There are some clever moments in the movie as they try to hunt him down but also the cleverness of one his victims and how she attempts to help the police despite knowing that she might die. There is a rather heart warming moment in the book involving Nixie Swisher from "Survivor in Death" and seeing how her life is now and a lovely showing for Eve as to how she has affected many lives for the better. This is still a rather slow book at times and after the last book, this one had me questioning if I was going to enjoy the next book or not. There were some nice moments in this book but overall not the best in the series.

Written by J.D. Robb

Product image for Strangers in DeathTechnology may be different in 2060 New York, yet the city is still a place of many cultures and great divides. It doesn't surprise Lieutenant Eve Dallas that Thomas Anders's scandalous death is a source of ... more...
