This is the seventh book in the Amulet series and it feels like it has been taking absolutely forever for these to be released.... I managed to get the 2nd book in this series to review a while back and it became a firm favourite of my sons, to the point of borrowing the rest from the library, so he was far more excited than I to get this book to read. Our characters are split into two parties throughout the story, the majority of this book is spent with Emily and Trellis as they visit Algos Island and find out some very startling things about the history of the Amulet Keepers and also get some backstory on the accident that killed Emily's father. The other part of the story follows Navin as he (along with the rest of his crew) try to evade the Elves, rejoin the rest of the Rebellion and reunite with his mother.
The illustration is wonderful, with full color and breathtaking backgrounds, it's no wonder it could hold y kids attention so easily. The story doesn't make a ton of progress but some interesting twists are revealed and there is one huge "Oh No!" moment near the end that has my son and I eagerly awaiting the next book in the series. Overall a great addition to the series and we simply can't wait to see just where everything is headed.
