My 2 year old son loves the wiggles, we previously reviewed the Wiggles Apples and Banana's which is one of his favourite DVD's that he watches again and again. I have to laugh as when he watches Apples and Bananas he has to have a banana while he watches. I was really keen to review this as I knew he would love some new songs to listen to and this new DVD has 24 all new songs which was a little bit exciting.
So when this arrived this morning he had to put it on straight away he was so excited. He stayed hooked on the TV for most of the DVD with little wanes in attention before he returned mesmerized on a song that caught his attention back again. All the songs were new so there was nothing that familiar to him and they weren't traditional nursery rhymes either so they were all un known songs. This was a bit different from what I have been used to with the wiggles as they usually stick to all the same songs in my experience.
Most of the songs were pretty great we especially liked the Big Red Boat and Have a Good Day Kia Pai to Ra featuring the honorary brown wiggle NZ's own Robert Rakete. It was cool to see some Maori language in a wiggles DVD I felt it made it that bit more special so I made a big deal when this song came on. I felt there was actually lots of cultural awareness in the DVD with songs that sort of featured on other nationalities too like Poppadom.
One thing I found was really special was a special song about Wheelchairs which came about from a letter from a fan who is in a wheel chair asking them why they had no songs about wheelchairs. He starred in this song and I was quite impressed they had done this and shown awareness and respect for people of all abilities. That is something this young man will never forget so was a really special moment and it was one of the most catchy songs on the DVD too.
Yet another Wiggles DVD to add to our weekly movie watching sessions i'm sure this one will soon be a favourite too I just hope we don't end up having to eat Poppadoms every time we watch this one!!
