This is what home cooking is all about. Forget about the roasts, soups or barbeques. Cakes is what it is all about. The memories one can get from smelling cakes baking in the oven is enough to transport you back to your grandmother's kitchen and the fresh, hot cakes that were turned out a-plenty.

Ok, maybe not cakes like these: Raspberry Meringue Cake or Coconut Syrup cake - but cakes nonetheless.

Annabelle White is a well-known Kiwi chef and writer who has taken time from baking cakes to put pen to paper to reveal her secret recipes to an eager world. There are cakes and slices for every occasion. The grand centrepiece of a party to the slices to be served at afternoon tea or morning coffee (or is that awfully English of me?) that would delight any visitor to your humble abode.

This book is clearly written so that anyone, even a child can follow the recipe and get excellent result (and an expanding waistline) every time. The photos will have you drooling and impatient to get the ingredients into the oven to serve your delight to yourself in your own company. You may even like to share them sometime.
Yes, that good.
