Fluxx: Doctor Who product reviews

Fluxx is a card game in which the cards themselves determine the current rules of the game. By playing cards, you change numerous aspects of the game: how to draw cards, how to play cards, and even how to win.

At the start of the game, each player holds three cards and on a turn a player draws one card, then plays one card. By playing cards, you can put new rules into play that change numerous aspects of the game: how many cards to draw or play, how many cards you can hold in hand or keep on the table in front of you, and (most importantly) how to win the game.

Doctor Who Fluxx takes the basic gameplay of Fluxx and merges it with multiple regenerations of the Doctor, various companions, Gallifreyan technology, K-9, Cybermen, Daleks, Weeping Angels, and the Master. Play the most ever-changingest, timey-wimey version of Fluxx ever created. Doctor Who Fluxx: you'll play it time after time after time after timeā¦

Fluxx is a card game that I had heard of many times but had never been interested in giving a try until I saw a Doctor Who version and knew that it was finally the right time for me to own a copy and learn how to play it. I had a quick look through and was pleased to see all the versions of the Doctor (other than thirteen and the war doctor), plus all the new-who companions. Sadly there wasn't much in regards to the original companions but I do understand that the show has so much to offer that the deck would end up being far too large to make a fun game. I have, however, bought the expansion which gives you thirteen new cards to add to the deck.

Playing Fluxx can be rather confusing until you have played it multiple times. You start off simple, draw one card and play one card, but then you can get cards which alter this rule and could end up drawing four cards and only playing two, or having to play all the cards in your hand and so on. There are also additional rules that can be added, the goal keeps on changing and then there are the Creepers (which are the Doctors most well known enemies) who aim to make the game a bit harder. I really like the illustrations and that this is a Doctor Who themed game, I do wish there was a bit more range between old and new but otherwise this is a hit with me.
