Rattletrap Car product reviews

The rattletrap car doesn't go fast and it doesn't go far - and when a family set off to the lake in it one hot day it soon starts to fall apart. But lumpety bumpety, a beach ball replaces the wheel; wappity bappity, a surfboard replaces the floor; a thermos of razzleberry dazzleberry snazzleberry fizz does for the petrol tank, all stuck on with chocolate marshmallow fudge delight! The rattletrap car reaches the lake, and takes the family safely - if noisily - home again.

"Junie was hot.
Jakie was hot.
Even the baby was hot, hot, hot."

The day is so hot that Junie and Jakie and the baby go off with their dad for a ride to the lake in their rattletrap car. Or try to at least, because one by one bits of car fall off or break and are replaced in turn by beach ball, surfboard, razzleberry dazzleberry snazzleberry fizz, and three-speed, wind-up, paddle-wheel boat, stuck on with chocolate marshmallow fudge delight.

This book is full of such poetic language, and is perfect for reading out loud. The story is outstanding and humorous, with great illustrations full of expression and detail, likeable characters, and most of all, the excellent rhythm and rhyme of the text. This book fast became our three year old's favourite book, and is still as enjoyable to read after countless retellings.

Product reviews for listing 6293: Fabulous Pie
Author: Gareth Edwards

Product image for Fabulous PieDeep in the forest, a very bad bear is baking a fabulous pie. All the woodland animals want to help him find the perfect filling, so they bring him their favourite foods: berries, nuts, honey and salmon. But the bear has a better idea for what can go in the pie... the animals themselves!

With wonderfully humorous illustrations from the internationally bestselling Guy Parker-Rees and a superb rhyming text from Gareth Edwards, the creators of NEVER ASK A DINOSAUR TO DINNER are on fine form with this fun-filled romp through the forest.
