I was really blown away by this book and was pleasantly surprised by how much my almost 4 year old took in of this story. The story line in particular is one that really makes you think about consequences for your actions. I think this book is really relevant to young children who want an animal just because they are fun. The story line without giving it away is about two children who absolutely adore a pup and they decide to get it. Like all animals this pup gets bigger and it needs more attention and help the older it gets.
The books goes through different ideas that both the siblings have on how the dog should be brought up and or trained but is it the right way to do things? I found that when the book was going through these ideas that my miss almost 4 was able to tell me whether she thought it was a good or a bad idea. I loved that this book was one that she could really get involved in with a number of questions and be able to say whether they were good or bad ideas and back up why she thought this.
I really enjoyed the bright bold pictures in this book and how you could see emotion on each of the characters faces. I think the book is a great length and the story line really holds the readers and or listeners attention. I think it definitely has rereadability as there are so many things you can continue to discuss about the book every time you read it. Especially towards the end of the book which I won't spoil by telling you.
All in all a fantastic book that myself and my daughter both enjoyed. I would purchase this book as a gift for someone else but I think the price is a wee bit steep. However it is a lovely quality book.
