My boys absolutely love trains and Thomas is a firm favourite. When I noticed this was available to request I thought it would be a great family movie, when it got here I had super excited boys who could hardly wait to watch it.
I loved the animation, it would be real easy to imagine the trains with faces, it was that real and natural looking. The story was easy to follow and we quickly got to meet some new friends. Thomas's cheeky personality really shows in the movie, he has a sense of humour and is almost always in trouble, one of my favourite scenes was when Thomas got caught being really naughty and he tried to blame everyone else for his mistakes but The Fat Controller saw right through his story. There were some rather funny scenes and we got to meet a new train and a boat. It is obvious that Thomas would be jealous but he learns that new trains aren't a threat.
My 7 year old asked if we were keeping the movie and then decided he was not in the mood to watch right then but he has watched it a few times since and my 5 year old loved the bonus features, for some reason he thought if he did the puzzle again it would have different trains on the puzzles and both boys can sing along to the sing along songs, Mr 5 even did some dance moves to the music. I found the extras a bit short and would like to see a bit more but really enjoyed the main movie which is long enough to be called a movie but not too long that the kids would find it boring.
I would recommend the movie to parents of young train mad children and I am planning on getting some of the other titles available as it is good child friendly movies.
