Scream #2: The Spider Army product reviews

Jack has done it again with "the spider army." Same great cover (minus the scream thing) and internal book design. This time though, the book is about Yvette rather than Josh and this makes me wonder what fantastic things are in store for the rest of the series.

Wow, that bite gave me chills. The descriptiveness of events that happen are rather graphic and make the enjoyability and re readability great. I would like to know if the facts given in the book are correct because that's an awful lot of information about spiders.

Arachnophobia is the fear of spiders. If you have it, perhaps don't read this book.

The book has nice short, easy to read chapters that are perfect for the young reader but I wouldn't let anyone under 8 or 9 read it with the risk of nightmares. One thing I have noticed with this book is that there is no chapter list in the front of the book, it strikes me as odd but works. It is so much easier to jump straight into the book rather than turning a lot of boring pages.

These books are the perfect height for the bookshelf and light weight, the ideal gift. The last page in the book shows the books that are coming soon and I will be watching my local store for both of them.

Axe Falls is a town where strange happenings and disappearances are very common and is also the setting of Jack Heaths new series. Jack Heath does a wonderful job of setting the scene and drawing you into the book. It's one of those books where once you pick it up it's hard to put it down again!

The book is based around Yvette who is a very smart young lady who is always inventing wild and wacky things, usually her inventions don't work and when one fails at school she finds herself in detention. However the library has something odd lurking in it. Yvette takes you on an adventure as she discovers just what is lurking within the library. As you get further into the book you can't help but be on the edge of your seat waiting to see what is going to happen next.

Each of the characters in the book have traits you find in preteens today so there's someone for everyone to relate to. The practical joker, the storyteller (who you know what she is saying is not true but you can't help to be drawn into her stories), the good student who tries to impress everyone and the easy going, go with the flow type. Each character is likable in their own way and all bring the book to life.

The book delivers a good mix of drama and frights throughout the story. There is a warning on the cover read at your own risk and if your not fond of spiders it may pay to listen to this warning! As an adult I really enjoyed the book and I have past it on to my niece who has also found once she started reading she couldn't stop. She is over halfway through the book and has already rung me to see if there is another book after this one. Its safe to say we are both waiting for the next book in the series. Jack Heath has done a wonderful job in creating a book that appeals to a wide age range of people.
