Tommy and Coop are so EXCITED. It is their first school camp. But will the MAYHEM at midnight mean it is also their last?

This was our second book in the Double Trouble series. The first one we experienced was the Dinosaur one. In this one, Tommy and Coop are off the school camp. My daughter was very keen to read this with me. We ended up motoring through it in two nights instead of the three or four I planned.

The twins go off to school camp, on a bus. This brought back so many memories of school camps for me as well. I remember going off on a bus, sitting with friends and looking forward to all the cool activities planned. I remember sleeping in big dorm rooms, often in bunks that were three beds high. Even sitting around toasting marshmallows. So this book was really neat for me to share, because this is all stuff my daughter hasn't experienced yet.

The book is written so that a new reader could pick it up and read it pretty well. There are 5 chapters and they are written in a style that is easy. Simple sentences, fairly basic vocabulary as well. But what I enjoyed was that it is still funny and interesting. It still feels like an exciting read, and that can be hard to achieve when you are are limited in vocabulary. So I really found this book a very good read.

As for the price, who can complain about $10. For a young reader, this book would probably entertain girls and boys just as well as going to a movie and for just as long. It would be a great challenge for your more confident new reader. My daughter did try to read a page of it, but she found it quite tiring. Stil, I was pleased that she wanted to try. She really enjoyed this book and when it was over loudly declared that she LOVED the story.

This is the second Double Trouble book that we've read and it's the 4th book in the series. This time the twins, Tommy and Coop, are off on their first school camp.

My son loves these books. He can really relate to the characters as they're roughly the same age as him and the humour in the books is bang on for the target audience. The twins are always pulling pranks which really appealed to my sons mischievous side and he loved finding out what prank they were going to pull next. Let's just say that there were a lot of giggles while reading this book.

We read this book over a couple of nights. The large print and simple words make it a great book for beginner readers though my son did find the chapters to be a little on the long side when reading it himself. There are a few black and white illustrations which my son enjoyed looking at and served to enhance different parts of the story.

We'll definitely be reading this book a lot and my son is keen on checking out some of the other Double Trouble books. When he's as excited about a book as I am, I know we're onto a winner.

Product image for Elephant Joe is a KnightOh, no! The Dark Knight has stolen the King's crown. Who can rescue it? Elephant Joe can! (And his trusty sidekick, Zebra Pete, of course.)

But there's an unexpected twist in this tale... a damsel in distress! There'll be lots of jousting and heroics before it's time for tea...
