Never Let You Go is a very sweet story about the love of a parent for a child. There is nothing that hints at whether the penguins are male or female. When I suggested one gender my girls (3.5 and 5 years) thought the opposite. This means that the child can make young penguin represent them and the adult penguin the adult they rely on. This is perfect for solo parents, foster parents or nuclear families.
My youngest enjoyed the story more than her sister. Her favourite part was when the parent let the little one go to go to the bathroom. She always added "So you don't get weed on." It is a very simple, one sentence a page format. It is targeted at two and three year olds.
As a parent it was a story about love for your child but also the struggle of letting the go so they can grow up. It is also a lovely way of telling your child you will always be there for them when they need you. It reminds me that they grow so fast and before I know it they will be adults.
The illustrations are simple bold characters on a plain background. This is perfect for the littlies too. I would not be surprised to see this story come out in a board book format. It is the ideal story for it. It is safe to say it is Miss 3.5s favourite book at the moment especially as she loves penguins.
Never Let You Go caught my eye right away with the simple yet delightful book cover. The lovely purple penguins on a nice blue background sets the scene nice and easily for this book.
"I Love You Little One And I Will Never Let You Go" except of course when it is necessary and it is time for your little one to start learning about themselves and the world around them. Each double page has a line or two of story and then a picture that suits the writing. I could fully relate to some of the moments, such as "I will never let you go unless you need to go to the bathroom" and how even though my child will grow and learn, my heart will never let them go.
I love the illustrations in this book, especially the drawings of the young penguin and the double page spread of the parent and child watching the stars, gorgeous. I also like that it isn't gender specific, so it could be a mum or a dad, a son or a daughter, I really like that, means it is good for any family.
This is a really sweet little book, a great bedtime story to tell your kids that you will never let them go.

It's a new school year and everything is perfect. Until class starts, that is - and EVERYTHING goes wrong. Ella can't believe she has to sit next to her absolutely WORST ENEMY EVER, Peach Parker. No matter how far she moves her pencil case across the desk, Peach is still in her SPACE. Where's her BFF Zoe? Can this year get ANY WORSE?
