This is the story of Tom Applecross, who found himself all alone in the world.
Till he met up with a gang of pirates.
Some would say, Any port in a storm.
Others would say Abandon ship while you've still got the chance!
Tom, rightly or wrongly, saw it as his lifeline.

The Pirate Company: On the Trail of the Golden Toucan I would say would be suitable for children 10 years and over. This book asks the question, if you had absolutely no choice, none at all, could you survive with the worst of the worst, stuck on a boat in the middle of the ocean?
11-year-old Tom finds himself alone after his dad vanishes in the jungle and his new stepmother couldn't care less about him or his dad. Things go from bad to worse and then the pirates come along. Some would say: Any port in a storm. Others would say: Abandon ship while you've still got the breath!
Soon Tom is part of the pirate crew and setting off on adventures which include finding out what is really going on and what his Stepmothers less than nice intentions are with his fathers discovery of the Golden Toucan. There's plenty of action and intrigue in this book, lots of fun and well worth the read.
Whilst I didn't enjoy it as much as some pirate based books for this age group that I have read, it is still a fun read and good for whiling away a few hours.
