Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have a pet dodo? What about a dinosaur living in your house or a living, fire-breathing dragon?
George loves to help out at Wormestall Farm, a secret sanctuary for the weird, wonderful, ever so slightly scary and extinct creatures. It beats doing an early morning paper round or neighbourhood dog walking session anyway: thereâ ™s a dodo in the dog bed and two dinosaurs in the duck pond.
This delightful dà ©but by Veronica Cossanteli is chocked full of fun and adventure and is extremely well-written. The author lives with a whole host of animals so she certainly knows what it's like to live with a tonne of animals. She's created a wonderful world full of animals that no longer exist, yet fit in perfectly in this book and world.
The Extincts is perfect for 7-11 year-old who love reading about weird, wild and wonderful creatures, have a taste for exhilarating escapades and rescue missions. There is a small amount of illustrations which compliments the story well. Give my son a year or two and I know that he will really enjoy this.

Kiwi's a party animal. He's all dressed up and ready to celebrate the wild and wonderful festivals and holidays of Aotearoa. Will Kiwi dance with fiery dragons, fly a Matariki kite, join a kapa haka show or march in the Santa Parade? Can you spot Kiwi as he celebrates through the year? Don't let Sporty Sheep, Wacky Wizard, Mystery Moa, Tricky Tuatara, Gumboot Guy or Kiwi's Girlfriend distract you from the great kiwi hunt!
