Product reviews...
I was given this book to review with my home-based carekids but after looking through it and seeing that it was recommended for ages eight plus I decided to let my nine year old nephew use it instead. This hasn't stopped my bunch of preschoolers looking through the book and pointing out their favourite dragons. The illustrations are so appealing to all ages (me included.). There is a mix of diagrams and information about these fantastic creatures. The cover grabs your attention with its raised dragons.
The price is very reasonable for what is both a book and an activity. It is in the ideal price range for a gift too. I love giving this sort of thing to children as it means that they will spend quality time with their parent and away from the TV and computer.
The book was well received by my nephew and my brother who both love dragons. They spent hours together making dragons and flying them too. It was very handy to have an adult present to assist with the precision folding needed for a good flying dragon. The dragons that were folded by himself looked fine but didn't fly as well as Daddy's.
I have looked on the Klutz website to see if you can buy the paper to make more but the book isn't even listed there. I am wondering if it is because it is so new. It would be great to be able to get more supplies especially if you are making them with your friends.
To me this product seems like a "must have" for people who love paper air planes, dragons, and do-it-yourself kits, and as I love all of the things mentioned above, this product was awesome to me! Out of all the dragons that you can make from this kit, the robo-dragon was my favourite, and it was probably the best one in the set as you could take off some parts and replace them with other parts, whereas the other dragons were held together with tape and so their parts were not interchangeable.
I found that some pieces of the dragons came out all too easily, and I noticed that when a big piece of the battle dragon came out of it's page before I even intended to take it out, so that is one downside to this product. Another downside I noticed was that there were only one set of parts for each dragon, so it meant that you can only make one full set without buying another book, so that was a bit disappointing for me.
The price is reasonable for a book like this, so I give the "value for money" aspect a 100%. The assembled dragons that I made looked very cool, and they flew very well. The artwork was very interesting and sure caught my eye. All in all, I am pleased with this product and am thankful that there were only a couple of downsides to this book. Happy folding!
