Done a bit of hunting in my day. I'm no stranger to a bolt action, a backpack, a day's hiking each way, and prey in my scope. But the one thing I have never been brave, or stupid, enough to try is taking on wild pigs by hand - with or without dogs to assist.

This book has some amazing stories in it, some that are obviously being told from the heart, and some that are just typical kiwi anecdotes to be taken with a grain of salt. Strangest of all is to find poetry in here as well, something "typical hard-man kiwi bush blokes" aren't exactly famous for. Never the less, the poems give some amazing insights into the heart and soul of those whose passion, hobby or career revolve around "going bush" and hunting.

Summary: An amazing insight into an otherwise unexpected side of the Bush Blokes, their families and friends, and the lifestyle that goes with it all. The cover proudly claims to be aimed at "Young Hunters", and I think that this book will encourage most, deter some, but provoke thought in all who read it, of any age.

Product reviews for listing 9277: Pippa and the Sheep Snatchers -  Written by Lauren Middleton

Product image for Pippa and the Sheep SnatchersThe dastardly Gumboot Gary is struggling to pay his bills, so he and his farm boy Digger Dan hatch a plan to snatch sheep to sell. But when a sheep called Lulabelle is taken, her best friend, nine-year-old Pippa, embarks on a wild and wacky adventure to rescue her.

With the help of ex-professional weightlifter turned policeman Mike Te Hira, the rescue mission includes hilarious shenanigans such as a slapstick tickle fight, a naughty possum called Paul who doesn't realise that he is someone's pet, and even a sheep beauty contest!
