I only purchased this as it was marked down at the local supermarket - not because of any Use By issue, thinking it would be a quick evening meal.
The pasta was mushy in places and yet the rest was as hard as if never cooked - ie no sauce anywhere near it, so in heating it had dried out, as there was so little else in the bowl. The provincial style tomato and mushroom sauce? That had only two pieces of mushroom, and in quantity would have been only about two tablespoons.
The vegetables (why call carrot sticks "carrot batons" - sheesh) - again a very small quantity, were tasteless and mushy, as if they'd been frozen before the meal was prepared, and thawed, then refrozen after packing the final product.
Maybe it should have had added preservatives. Not a repeater for us although as another reviewer has noted, other meals in the range scrape into the tasty enough range.
Never judge a book by it's cover... it's a maxim that holds true for food too, it seems.
After the success of a previous Healthy Choice meal, I thought I would try a few other HC meals. So this one was tried next... and I found myself quite disappointed indeed.
The chicken was dry and chewy to the point of being rubbery, the pasta was NOT Al Dente, it was gummy and not at all properly cooked, despite following the instructions to the letter, and there was sod-all flavour.
Overall, it's a reasonable sized meal, but not at all worth the price, despite it being on special that week. I will not be buying this one again. However, there ARE plenty of meals in the HC range that ARE good value, for example the Fillets of Lamb.

Take a dozen small (about 4-6cm diameter) Gourmet Potatoes, wash and brush them, but do NOT peel them. (All the good stuff is in the skins.) Cut them into cubes about 1-1.5cm. Boil them gently in lightly-salted water until tender, but not squishy. You don't want a mashed salad.
While the spuds boil, grab some rashers of bacon, or if you don't have any handy (like me) use 3 or 4 slices of Ham & Chicken Luncheon, or shaved ham even. ... more...
