The Bank Job product reviews

In September 1971, thieves tunnelled into the vault of a bank in London's Baker Street and looted safe deposit boxes of cash and jewellery worth millions of pounds. None of it was recovered. Nobody was ever arrested. The robbery made headlines for a few days and then disappeared - the result of a UK Government 'D' Notice, gagging the press.

This film reveals what was hidden in those boxes. The story involved murder, corruption and a sex scadal with links to the Royal family - a story in which the thieves were the most innocent people involved.

This movie is brilliant! Even more so since Jason Statham is the lead role. He is definately a leader not a follower. I can watch him and listen to his sexy voice all day!

The movie starts with a certain Princess swimming and partying it up in the Carribean. Compromising photo's were taken of her by Michael X a known drug lord, and then put in a safe deposit box to keep as blackmail to keep him out of prison.

Terry Leather (Statham) has a failing car sales business. He owes people money. Then along comes Martine Love. She grew up with Terry but now she's been caught smuggling drugs in to the UK on her way back from Morrocco. In turn she called her friend Tim from MI5, who then tells her she can have a get out of jail free card if she can pull off a robbery at the Lloyds Bank and recover the contents of the safe deposit box 118.

Now Martine gives Terry a proposition that is hard to turn down. He is now taking the step up from being just a petty criminal. He accepts The Bank Job and gets his gang together to proceed.

There are many twists and turns as wit is played against wit. The Gang have to outplay a vicious porn king, bent coppers, straight coppers and of course MI5 to come out the otherside squeaky clean and innocent.

The costumes were a great trip down memory lane in the 60's and 70's - the orange cardigan, smocks and circle patterned tops. The accessories like the telephones and cameras and walkie talkies were also accurate for this era.

I really enjoyed the soundtrack too. Very easy listening, and upbeat. We all remember Mustang Sally!

This is definately a movie to add to my collection!
