In the beginning some countries got luckier than others and New Zealand more so than most - that's because we got Pascall Pineapple Lumps. Delicious, chewy pineapple centres, smothered in a chocolate coating.
Those other countries can keep their gold, diamonds and oil - we've got the most scrumptious National Treasure of them all!

Pascall Pineapple Lumps are a true national icon of New Zealand...and for a darn good reason! They are simply delicious.
Anyone that knows me personally will no that I am a self-confessed chocoholic. Anything chocolate will always be an instant hit with me, and pineapple lumps are certainly no exception!
Ever since I was a little girl growing up I always remember that the house always had at least one packet in the pantry (although once opened they never lasted long.) There is just something about the thin layer of chocolate over a simply scrumptious, chewy pineapple centre that makes Pineapple Lumps a flavour sensation. Even people that don't particularly like pineapple will like these (I am an example of this, I usually detest pineapple)
Not only are Pineapple Lumps nice to eat just as they are but they are versatile in other recipes. A couple of examples how I use them are as follows. I like to make a nice and creamy ambrosia using berry yoghurt, cream, marshmallows, fresh berries and of course the Pineapple Lumps. Taking a spoonful of this is a taste sensation and I would highly recommend making a batch and deciding for yourself. Another recipe that I frequently make with my kids assistance is a Pineapple Lump cake. This is a different version of another kiwi classic - Lolly Cake. Very simple to make using malt biscuits, condensed milk, butter, coconut and Pineapple Lumps. Always a hit in this household for treats and party food.
Over summer I like to pop the bag of Pineapple Lumps in the freezer so as not to melt into one large melted, squished block of deliciousness - don't get me wrong I would still devour it like this no matter how messy it would be hehe. Frozen they are as delicious as when they aren't.
I would highly recommend everyone try some Pineapple Lumps as they are a true, kiwi essential. I can guarantee you will not be disappointed!
