Seventh Son product reviews

John Gregory, who is a seventh son of a seventh son and also the local spook, has protected his country from witches, boggarts, ghouls and all manner of things that go bump in the night.

However John is not young anymore, and has been seeking an apprentice to carry on his trade. Most have failed to survive.

The last hope is a young farmer's son named Thomas Ward. Will he survive the training to become the spook that so many others couldn't? Should he trust the girl with pointy shoes? How can Thomas stand a chance against Mother Malkin, the most dangerous witch in the county?

I had no idea what this movie was about before my husband and I sat down to watch it. I had won the DVD recently and as there was nothing on tonight we thought why not. I was surprised with some of the big names in the movie and actually enjoyed it for what it was. The opening scene had me intrigued, to say the least. I assumed it was some witch down the well for centuries before her big escape and got such a thrill when a dragon popped out. The special effects where great - I love dragons and to see one so well done was extremely exciting. Unfortunately I am not a huge Jeff Bridges fan and so the movie took a bit of a dive for me. He did a good job but I found his mumbling to become tiresome.

Basically its good vrs evil but with a twist. Hell has no fury like a witch scorned and when her love is no longer wrecks hell on earth. Only the seventh son of a seventh son can stop the evil from taking over the earth. Bridges has a knack for losing his apprentices and finds another but this one has a twist and does not go all smooth sailing. As a plot it is nothing exciting but the exercution is done fantastically.

I loved the creatures that popped up in the movie and you never knew what what happen next. It could of been a lot darker but I think it is aimed more for the teenager scene with only a PG13 rating. The acting had its moments and I was surprised at how well Julianne Moore done, she definitely kept the movie going. I personally would of liked it to be darkened up a bit and aimed at the older generation as the movie could of been something great or even out of this world but it is definitely watchable.

Product image for 101 Dalmatians (Live Action)Slapstick kingpin John Hughes translates the classic animated children's tale into a campy live-action slugfest. The fur-loving, sadistic Cruella De Vil (Close, at her most outrageous) pants after the pelts of the titular puppies, hoping to sew them into a fabulous coat, but the dogs outsmart her and her bumbling henchmen.
