Planet Sketch product reviews

"60 million years ago last Tuesday the mighty dinosaurs were wiped out. There are many reasons for this, and here is number 63."

From DECODE and Aardman Animations (Wallace and Gromit, Creature Comforts) comes Planet Sketch. Join a quirky collection of madcap characters like Captain Gagtastic, the supervillian who has a penchant for ruining family gatherings with his terrible jokes, the Japanese Fighting Fish who are "...'ard, dead 'ard..." and the Parping Ponies, a pair of posh horses with a penchant for baked beans (with disasterous results) in this parade of comedy sketches and unforgettable catchphrases.

Nosepicker and the Street Rappers get caught painting grafitti and Ninja Handyman battles with... custard! These are just some of the adventures in this unique and charming blend of CGI and 2D Animation.

The show provides an absurdly funny yet accurate reflection of childrens' lives and concerns - the characters and the situations provide a mirror of their experience of home and school life, but with the sort of unexpected comedic twists which only animation can provide.

I found the animation in this dvd great. It's my first glimpse in to the world of 2D animation, and i really enjoyed it. ait looked realistic as a cartoon, but not humanly realistic. This is the only thing i enjoyed about the dvd i'm sorry to say.

I didn't find this dvd very funny at all. I guess thats because it portrays only negative things that happen in childrens everyday lives. For example the Japanese Fighting Fish bully other fish that swim in to their neck of the woods. The Street Rappers are caught graffittiing a wall, and it depicts a child picking her nose and pulling a toothbrush and remote out of it. To me all of these things are what i'm teaching my daughter to be important to NOT do in life.
I also don't see how children would see the funny side in Dr Dragon eating his patients, it's hard enough to get children to the doctor normally without them thinking the Doctor will eat them!

I also found the shows too short, and repetitive. It seems each caracter only had 30 seconds per episode to tell a story and it just doesn't have a plot line.

I only gave a 5 for believeability because i enjoyed the animation, everything else is a complete letdown i'm sorry to say.

I would definately prefer a plot line and be more moral for young children. Maybe i'm just too old for that kind of humour, i don't know.

Directed by Henry Bean

Product image for NoiseWhat happens when one man's mission is to silence the world's noisiest city, by any means necessary?

Noise is a black comedy about a man caught in the most impossible of conundrums: in love with his hometown, New York City, but driven mad by its noise. Transforming himself into "The Rectifier", David takes on everyone from the schmuck who ignores his own car alarm, to the city's most powerful citizen, the Mayor. As his daring grows, ... more...
