Superworm is a super engaging book! Julia Donaldson has once again outdone herself and written a catchy story with a great moral.

Since receiving this book I have read and re-read this to my son. The words are catchy and I love how this story teaches kids that you don't have to look or be strong to be good at things and help others. I also like that this book is using nature (not human like characters) as characters. It is a great moral. I am catching my 3 yr old repeating the words while in the car or playing by himself.

Axel Scheffler has created some in-depth, eye catching illustrations. I love that as well as just reading the story we can talk about what is happening in pictures. This definitely adds to the value of the book and also gives it a longer life time.

I love how this book comes with a CD. It is great to have the choice whether we read with or without the CD as there are times where mum is too busy to read. I have taught my son to flick through the pages along with the CD. One thing I would have liked to see is that there was a cue for turning the pages so that I wasn't having to remind a non reader to turn the pages. I do however feel that this book will be read more without the CD so that we can take the time to look more closely at the pictures.

This book also came with a matching game attached to the cover. Although this is put nicely at the back and by cutting off the cover it does not affect the book I am reluctant to cut them off. Being a teacher/mum I like to teach kids that you do not deface books and although this does not ruin it, I feel that putting a pair of scissors to a book is wrong.

Superworm is super long, Superworm is super strong. And Superworm is a brilliant book! The magic team of Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler have done it again with this really cool book about a worm superhero. I have read and re-read this so many times over the last few days and it keeps getting requested.

Donaldson has a real way with words. She always makes them rhyme, and she uses a variety of words which help increase our vocabulary too. The rhythm that you read this book at feels really obvious. We were chanting out the song quite happily, with even the toddler chanting "worm, worm, worm".

The cool thing about the book is, that it shows you that you don't even have to be a super hero to be super. You can be the hero of the story and you can save the day. Team work was to the rescue, and that was a really good way to show my children how important it is to include others where you want to succeed as well.

The illustrations from Scheffler really made the book and pages POP. All the animals have that Scheffler style to them. Cartoony, expressive and full of colour and fun. I have had moments of trying to get my toddler to give the book up, but she is too busy pointing away at all the animals. The images are just so engaging.

Lastly the book comes with a CD as well as a memory game. The memory game is on a flap at the back. We have already played this a couple of times and my eldest daughter loves it. What I love is that I didn't have to totally destroy the book to have the game. This book set is so cool, I would buy it again for friends either as a birthday gift for their children or as a baby shower item. Very very cool book indeed!

Product image for Temeraire : 2 : Throne of JadeNaomi Novak's deliciously addictive Throne of Jade skillfully layers the history of the Napoleonic War with breathtaking imagination.

The battle for Europe rages upon the land and sea... and in the skies. Squadrons of aviators rain fiery death upon their enemies, but the destruction is not caused by gunpowder alone - it comes from the very guts of the beasts that are flying: dragons.

Temeraire is a Chinese Celestial dragon, ... more...
