This is the first book of the Mission Survival books and I have read them completely out of order. This book was definitly slower to get into, the rest of the series the story starts straight away but with this one he gave a lot of information and explained a lot in-depth. The story revolved around more people as well and it was lacking in the usual speed.
In all of the other books I have picked up some amazing survival tips (true will probably never use them but its still fascinating to know) in this book there was nothing. The only thing I learnt is - the more triangle the shape of a snakes head the more deadly they are. Also even if the head is severed from a snakes body the nerves still continue and they can still bite, which could be very deadly as the venom is in the sacks behind the fangs. Beyond that no other valuable information.
I am not sure if I would of continued with the series if I had read this book first, but in saying that it was still enjoyable. Books six and seven I read within 24 hours and book four just under 3 days but this took me 8 days to read as I just couldn't sink my teeth into it.

This is the story of Tom Applecross, who found himself all alone in the world.
Till he met up with a gang of pirates.
Some would say, Any port in a storm.
Others would say Abandon ship while you've still got the chance!
Tom, rightly or wrongly, saw it as his lifeline.
