Double Trouble - Prank Alert product reviews

Meet Thomas and Cooper. Identical twins. Master pranksters!

The best thing about being twins is that you always have twice the fun (but get in double the trouble!).

Tommy and Coop can't help themselves, they just love pranking! But what will happen when their school prank gets completely out of hand? Will they get stuck with the worst punishment ever - more recorder practice?

We had previously read a couple of books in the Double Trouble series which my son (almost 7) absolutely loved so I was super excited to pick up this book (the first in the Double Trouble series) for a bargain price at my son's school book fair.

The books are about a set of twin boys, Tommy and Coop, who love playing pranks and are always getting into trouble because of it. Now pranks aren't something that I want to encourage my son to practice but they certainly make for an entertaining read and there are consequences involved in the story both from their parents and teachers. In this book Tommy and Coop play three different pranks with interesting results.

It's a short book (we read it all in one go) with black and white illustrations scattered throughout. The text is simple and easy to read - great for beginner readers and encouraging independent reading. I thought that the story didn't flow quite as well as the other books that we've read but the story itself is funny and perfectly suited to its target audience.

This book was a big hit with my son and I'm sure it will appeal to both boys and girls around the 5-8 year age group. We'll definitely be reading it again.

We were given a couple of the Double Trouble books to review, and I have to admit that these are very very simple and easy books to read. Simple words, simply set out, simple pictures. They are definitely aimed at the younger readers out there, and would be the perfect books to give to young boys just starting out at school to get them interested in reading.

The books would appeal to boys a lot, as like I said they are an easy read, and they are fun, which is important for boys. I read the books one afternoon, and my 12 year old son read them after me. Between us, we had both finished reading this book in its entirety within an hour and a half. The books and that easy to read, that they hold your attention long enough to finish.

I do think they are most definitely for younger readers though, and older readers could find them a bit silly, perhaps even finding them a little lame. Teenagers may even pick faults in the pranks within the pages. But still they are a light-hearted funny read, and a really great price. In fact they would make fantastic stocking stuffers, or even rewards for achievement.
