For centuries, the Gadda have worked to keep their identity secret from the rapidly expanding human race. All this is now at risk - the most terrible of Gadda teachings, the Forbidden texts, have been stolen and the race is now on to find them.
Ione Gorton may have got her best friend back from Australia, but Maggie's elevation to the ranks of Guardians means that she's not around as much. So when Stephen O'Malley, almost the youngest - and definitely the hottest - ever candidate for the Sixth Order test, needs a place to stay after strange and violent happenings hit Sclossin, Ione is all too happy to lend a hand...
But Ione, like Maggie before her, is soon a target for those using the Forbidden texts. The missing artefact is changing life for Gadda and human alike...

The second book in the Dream of Asarlai series, this is another compelling offering from this young Australian author. After Book 1, I wasn't too sure how the plot was going to progress, except to say that Asarlai was going to continue with her nasty antics. I didn't think she was going to get this nasty though, and with the help of many unwitting, and a few co-operative, flunkies.
With an interesting twist, and a new romance that struck a chord of recognition from the first book in that it comes out of nowhere, there's a surprising twist, and the two are as mismatched as you could imagine yet make it work in spectacular fashion. I predict, with a large degree of hope that I am wrong, that the third book will bring yet another pairing.
I won't say too much, because the story starts and ends at critical points in the overall plot... so I will have to be satisfied with saying this: "Nicole Murphy is a rising talent worth watching!" She's not new to the writing business, which is clearly evident in the polished result presented here.
Overall, I am seriously loving the way this series is panning out and despite not being a huge fan of the fantasy genre, find myself quite keen for Book 3 - 'Rogue Gadda' - to come out.

Deep in the forest, a very bad bear is baking a fabulous pie. All the woodland animals want to help him find the perfect filling, so they bring him their favourite foods: berries, nuts, honey and salmon. But the bear has a better idea for what can go in the pie... the animals themselves!
With wonderfully humorous illustrations from the internationally bestselling Guy Parker-Rees and a superb rhyming text from Gareth Edwards, the creators of NEVER ASK A DINOSAUR TO DINNER are on fine form with this fun-filled romp through the forest.
