I have always had dragons as my favourite mythological animal and I enjoyed this book immensely. The difference between this book and others was that the perspective was completely different as we saw the dragon world of Pyrrhia from their view; hence we humans appear as dumb beasts called 'scavengers'. The different types of dragons and their special talents and characteristics are illustrated in the guide at the front of the book and I thought that this was helpful because otherwise the book would've been more difficult to understand.
The book is cleverly plotted so that for every problem there is always a solution somewhere a bit later or a bit earlier in the book. I wonder if some of the information in this book will be a related to the rest of the series. In this book friendship and co-operation are very important because the characters couldn't be successful without their friends and allies. The plot runs along at a steady pace: not too fast to understand and not too slow to become boring.
The end of this story is as unexpected as it could possibly be leaving you hanging and creating a load of tension. I personally can't wait until the next book comes out. In the end the plot is thrown into turmoil and the rest of the story is unclear and full of mystery and danger. A great book for any from 10 years and up.
