When it is time to clean your microwave place a cut lemon inside the microwave with a glass of water with a dash of dish washing liquid and microwave on high for 60 seconds. Then simply wipe away the softened food splatters and the microwave will be left freshly deodorized

This is such a handy tip that I found one day scrolling through my facebook news feed. A friend of mine has shared the idea and I decided to try it and have never looked back it certainly makes the job so much easier and it is great that you are not having to use harsh chemical cleaners in a place where you cook your food.
I found it is best to not put too much dishwashing liquid you only need a small drop otherwise the mixture will bubble over and spill into the microwave. Also only have fill the jug or cup so it doesn't spill over. I put it on for the first 60 seconds and then give it a quick check to see how easy it is too wipe and then put it on for a further 60 seconds if needed.
I have found that you only need to wipe the inside out with a damp cloth after the microwave time and it simply comes off just with the cloth no need for any scrubbing at all. The smell of the lemon eliminates any lingering food odours and leaves the microwave smelling fresh. A great time saving tip!
