Well these Ella and Olivia books are highly treasured by my Miss Six so it was no surprise that the latest additions were whisked to her bedroom the minute I showed them to her. My Miss Six scrolls the Scholastic book club order forms for these and keeps an eye out on the Ella and Olivia website for upcoming titles so I have been under strict instructions to get this book!
Miss Six in her own words "This book is brilliant. I really like it. I liked the story and I liked the horses. My friend has a horse and she rides her horse too. I liked how Ella had to ride the horse even though she wasn't supposed to."
Miss Six has read this story quite a few times and it seems to be as enjoyable for her as the others that she has in this series.
I would have to recommend this as yet another great Ella and Olivia story. ![]()
This book was selected this evening for the bedtime story. I am really impressed with these books. At $10 you really can't go too wrong. They are 5 chapters each and they appeal to my girl. I think both of the recent books have because of the animal content especially. Ella and Olivia are sisters plus they have a baby brother called Max. This gives my daughter a lot to relate to. Having a young sister as well as having a baby in the house and everything that goes with that.
This book is about horses and the girls' friend Zoe. Zoe rides horses in competitions and the girls go along to see her event. I was quite interested to see what would happen here. I didn't read the blurb, but the drama is foreshadowed a bit by what the mum says to the girls as they ask if they can go. It also allowed me to talk to my girl about horses and safety around them.
At the event day, Ella accidentally enters an event herself. It is done quite well, and as a parent I can totally see how it happened. Remembering back to being 7, I can totally imagine not questioning an adult even if they were wrong about something. There is action and high drama as well as Zoe having to make some decisions that were the right ones but cost her a lot as well. We were on the edge of our seats.

As a child, Lawrence Newton wanted nothing more than to fly starships and explore the galaxy. But, on the colony world of Amethi in the twenty-fourth century, Lawrence is living in the wrong era, for the age of human starflight is drawing to a close. So, like many another teenage rebel, he runs away.
Twenty years later, he's the sergeant of a washed out platoon taking part in the bungled invasion of another world. The giant ... more...
