Extinction - 2 - The Explosive Conclusion product reviews

Thank you KIWIreviews for allowing us to review this book. Master (now) 11, reviewed the first book in the series when he was 10 (again, thanks KIWIreviews), and was over the moon when I told him he was going to be able to review the next one.

When the package arrived, he all but bowled everyone over in his scrambling for the book, and he actually grabbed it and bolted to his room to get reading straight away. I love that the first book left a lasting impression on him, and that he just couldnt wait to see what was enclosed within the covers on the second one.

The cover, like the first, is extremely appealing...The massive X catches ones eye immediately, the 2 inside the X is also very impressive, and the books arent too big that kids would get bored and never finish them. Not that there is a chance of getting bored with these books.

Extinction 2 continues on from the first Extinction book, unlike some second books that seem to begin at a time a little further on from the end of the first book. It is full of excitement, intrigue, and danger...enough to keep a tweenage boy reading forever. Every element a kid could want is covered by this story line, and my son absolutely loved it.

I have not read it myself as yet, so the review has come from Master 11. I asked him to tell me a bit of what happened in it, but he is of the impression that others should read it to find out as he does not want to give anything away. He said he loved the search for the pure elements (such as pure air etc) and he loved that the entire book, cover to cover, was filled with a heart stopping story line...not like some books where only bits and pieces are exciting and then there are pages of boredom!

Okay, I have to admit that the first book in this series was pretty cool, but this one just blew me away! The cover looked great, the number 2 behind the title made a very cool effect. I was glad that this was probably the last book, because I was more than anxious to find out what happened next! It was pretty cool how, on the spine of the book, there was half of a "figure of eight", the other half of which was on the first book.

The storyline was awesome, there was action, danger and excitement at every turn, so from the minute I started reading, I picked up this book at every chance I had, and so I got this whole thing finished in just under a day! I got very worried at some parts, it seems that almost every active book I read makes me feel like I'm inside the character's skin, I see what he sees, I feel what he feels; it's like my mind has been sucked into the book, and I've left the real world far behind me.

I would say that this book is good for anyone over 10 years of age, there are some parts which could give young ones nightmares for days, so it's better to give this book to people who have read a lot more stuff like this. I have no negative feelings towards this book, it has no faults, no bad language, and no loss of the action, it is almost perfect. I am absolutely certain that you will love this book; it is one you don't want to ignore!
