Life Expectancy product reviews

When the hand of fate reaches out to touch an ordinary man...

In the moments before he is born, Jimmy Tock has a strange destiny thrust upon him. His dying grandfather prophesies five dark days in his grandson's life - five dates on which Jimmy will face terror and violence, malice and perversion. A storm rages. There is a chilling significance in the old man's words. The moment his grandfather dies, Jimmy emerges squalling into the world, destined to struggle against an evil so dark and pervasive only the most extraordinary of human spirits can shine through.

What dangers await Jimmy on these five dark days? What terrifying events must he survive? At each of the crisis points a mystery unfolds that will challenge his understanding of good and evil, life and death - and everything in between.

This was the first book by Koontz that I had read. I found myself drawn into the story nice and quickly. In saying that, however, I am glad that this was a 'spend $20 pick a book for free' deal, and not something that I paid for out of my own pocket.

It's a good story, and it's written well enough that you continue to want to read it. I got interested in the book enough, that it got enough attention from me that it was finished within 3 days. It had good characters and a decent plot line, that had enough twists and turns in it that you wanted to keep reading. I do recall, though, that there was one 'twist' that I saw coming from a mile away.

This was a great book by Koontz, and so far I have only read two others of his that I have enjoyed equally as much.

Another great book by Koontz.
As with his other books, Dean Koontz has the ability to suck you into a story and make you believe. Just when you think you have it figured out he puts a twist into the story to turn you on your ear and the a second one to make sure you're caught and keep reading.
If 'Life Expectancy' is the first Koontz book you've read then this book will make you want to read more.
Dean Koontz's books have a common theme through them and that is one of good over evil, angels and daemons and the survivability of the human spirit. be prepared to be rooting for the hero when he's down, booing the villain and holding your breath while waiting to read what happens next.

Product reviews for listing 7795: Abel Tasman: Mapping the Southern Lands -  Author: Maria Gill

Product image for Abel Tasman: Mapping the Southern LandsMore than 300 years ago, a young Dutch sailor named Abel Tasman stood on the prow of a ship he and his crew had sailed across wild, uncharted waters. In the distance, through a shroud of mist, the rugged outline of steep hills rose from the ocean waves. Could this be Terra Australis - the great southern land?

Abel Tasman and his crew were most likely the first Europeans the Aboriginal people of Australia and the Maori of New Zealand had ever seen. Join the journey and discover the legacy left behind.
