C'mon... it's a heat'n'eat microwave meal for one... one not-very-hungry person, for sure, but still... how good can it be?
Well, the answer to that is... "Actually, quite good indeed!"
Being a bit of an Italian-inspired foodie myself, and creator of a couple of family favourite lasagne recipes, as well as avid taster of all things Italian and minced-beef-based, I think it fair to say that i can pick a winner... and I pick this one! For a heat-n-eat, this is an exceptionally good version.
Slight hiccups... the instructions have the possibility of causing confusion... but the fault actually lies with us, the consumers... you see the packet specifies REHEAT for 6-7 minutes... now if the user is an average Joe, they might not be aware that many modern microwaves actually have a REHEAT function that is different to the normal POWER COOK function... so if you slap this thing into the nukebox on full for 6-7 minutes, you're going to be cleaning pasta sauce and meat bits off the inside of your microwave for the next half an hour. And it get's worse if you over-think and try peeling away a corner to let out steam... all you are doing is actually forcing the explosion to come out that point first.
Overall, though I think the nuke'able packaging needs a bit of work, because no matter how I did it, I still ended up cleaning food bits out of the microwave chamber, I think the food itself is nothing short of amazing for heat-n-eat single-serve meals! Time to explore the rest of the range, methinks...
Random listing from 'Food'...
An original recipe consisting of lemonade, lemon pulp, sugar and thickend with tapioca starch.
All of our jams are taken from recipe books dated back early 1900s. You can't beat Grandma's original recipes and methods but we do try to cut out as much sugar as possible but its hard to get to setting point so unfortunately its back to the way Grandma made it. Naturally it's full of fruit sugar and no other additives.
