I have dined at Aqaba many times. I see it as a quick, casual, reasonably priced place to eat. You can choose to sit inside, or there is limited seating outside.
Last time I dined here was a week ago with a group of 5. The menu contains a real variety, with breakfast dishes (available all day), a lunch menu, a snack menu (think wedges), a dinner/ larger meal menu (can be ordered from at lunchtime also, I believe), and lastly, a dessert menu. You shouldn't have trouble finding something on the menu you want to try! As usual, we went to the counter and ordered. The kitchen is fully visible from where you order, which is good. However I noticed the kitchen seemed to be quite dirty; there was spilled food on the floor, on counters, etc. An opened, browning avocado sat on the bench just by the till. I hoped that same avocado wasn't going to be used in my meal, which did contain avocado!
I opted for a 'Pesto Pile Up'. Ciabatta, avocado, fresh baby spinach, tomato, poached egg and pesto. The other people in our party ordered their meals. We waited about 7 minutes, and two people's meals were brought out. Another 6-7 minutes later, the rest of the meals were brought out. Which disappointed me, we had all ordered at the same time so our meals should have been brought out together.
Anyhow, my meal was very nice, except unfortunately for the avocado which was brown in places and tasted past it's best. The poached egg was cooked too long also, making it hard. The flavours went well though, and I felt it was good value for money.
Everybody else enjoyed their meals.
Big groups, try the famous Aqaba sampler. It is a selection of Aqaba's desserts. HUGE!
It would pay to book here, as it can get very busy, especially on weekends at brunch time. All in all, a great place to visit for a casual brunch or lunch.
