Matt Scudder (Neeson) has a lot to make up for. When a series of kidnappings targeting the city's worst drug criminals escalates to grisly murder, the circuit's ruthless leader convinces Scudder to find the culprits and bring them to bloody justice.
Working as an unlicensed private detective, Matt sees what the police don't see and treads where they most fear to. Operating just outside the law to track down the monsters responsible, Scudder stops just short of becoming one himself.

To be honest the title sounded interesting and I am not really an action fan so it was interesting to see if this movie could convert me. I had some problems with watching this at home (for some unknown reason the DVD player isn't working, not that I was not willing to watch alone) so a friend said she would watch with me but her 4 year old kept coming into the lounge and nothing would get her to stay away for more than five minutes at a time so I just couldn't get into the story, since this was a review DVD I knew I would have to give this another chance as I can't give a decent review based on about 20 minutes viewing time that was interrupted about five times.
The storyline was easy to follow, I was hoping to find out why the wife was killed but some questions weren't answered. The special effects were great, really believable. I must have a really strange sense of humour as there were parts that had me laughing and there was a scene in the beginning that I thought the guys were raping her but as I watched the movie that scene actually made sense.
This wouldn't be my first choice of movie to watch again but this is one of the few action movies I would watch again.

Two Russian gangsters conspire to rob a casino but their plans are bungled when two corrupt cops - in on the daring heist - are killed. Fortunately, with the help of their girlfriends, the robbery is back on.
But when the gangsters find the girls in bed together they kick them out. Now the girls devise a plan of their own. The three women outsmart their unsavoury ex-boyfriends to go ahead with the heist.
This is their big chance... can they do it?
