I loved Little Big Planet 1 and 2 so I was super excited to receive the third instalment for Christmas.

I was really looking forward to the same style of story and gameplay providing hours of fun and entertainment. To say I was extremely disappointed would be an understatement. The graphics are amazing but that's where it ends. The story was short and I completed the main storyline in under 5 hours which came as a total shock to me as I felt like I'd only just started playing the game and then it was over. Yes, there's additional content - extra levels, collectibles, etc, but not enough of them to add significantly to the game play time.

There is a large multiplayer component in this game with the addition of extra characters which you can swap between and while some of the levels are enjoyable, they are very linear and fast paced so you lose a lot of the ability to explore and discover new and hidden areas. I did like how the levels were mapped out in this game with one main free play level with the other levels branching off from it.

The LittleBigPlanet community still plays a big part and it's where you can go to explore and play other player created levels which can be really fun especially when playing with friends.

Whereas Little Big Planet 1 and 2 were both suitable for my son (aged 7) to play, I'm sad to say that this game is not. It would be far too hard for younger players and even I struggled to complete a lot of the levels. There are still lots of stickers to collect in each level and it's always fun dressing up your Sackboy and you can even purchase (with collectabells) costumes for the other characters but that's pretty much where the fun ends.

I don't think I've ever been so disappointed in a game and I can't see myself playing it again.
