My girls (4.5 and 6 years old) saw the pile of books KIWIreviews had available for review and they immediately grabbed the Marvel Avengers: Hero Chronicles. A few days later when I told them I was returning the books I wasn't reviewing the both told me I wasn't allowed to return the Marvel book. Thankfully for all of us I had decided to keep it.
My girls are both really into superheroes so this book was a big hit with them. It is actually four separate stories. The first three are about how Hulk, The Flash and Thor came to be. The final story was about the formation of The Avengers as a Team. Each page only had a sentence or to so although they were nearly 50 pages each I could easily read one a night to the girls. They were glued to the story as the illustrations together with the text had them hooked.
This book is a heavy hard covered edition with thick glossy pages. Any Marvel fan, young or old, would be pleased to have it. It is the sort of book I can imaging children using to trace picture of their favourite superhero and try to convince everyone they were a great artist. For only $26 it is a quality book that will be treasured for years.
It is one of the few books we own that my husband will chose to read to the girls that they enjoy and will sit down by themselves and talk about. This would be a great book for your reluctant reader as it will hold their interest, doesn't look childish and is relatively easy to read.
