Te Manawa is great for kids and adults alike. Great for a morning or afternoon of entertainment and it is free entry which is always a bonus especially with a big family. The kids love to go here and there is plenty for them to look at as well as a lot of activities to keep them entertained. It is also very educational!
There is an art gallery that when you walk through you can go through to the main part of the museum, often on warmer days there are activities set up outside for the little ones to enjoy, water tables, chalk, paints and things like that. The museum is separated into different sections. There is a part that is of Maori heritage where you can learn of Maori traditions and about the history of Manawatu iwi's. Te Awa the river, there is lots in this part to keep the kids busy, magnifying glasses to inspect the many bugs, a fake cow that you can have a go at milking, fish, a bush walk and a cave! There is also "Manawatu Journeys" which contains a small movie theatre, a old caravan and a really old Tractor plus a boat.
There is also a pretty amazing kids play area, I would highly recommend visiting if you are in the area and have time to kill! Te Manawa also hold lots of events that are usually free, its a great place for the community!
