Since we reviewed the first Peter Rabbit DVD it has been the DVD of choice for my girls every time I say they can watch a DVD. We were pretty excited as a result to review this second release Catch Me if You Can. I hadn't thought that it could be any better than the first DVD, Hop to It, but it is.
With seven episodes namely, The Tale of the Secret Treehouse, The Tale of Benjamin's Strawberry Raid, The Tale of the Flying Fox, The Tale of Nutkin of the Run, the Tale of the Wriggly Worms, The Tale of Jemma's Egg and finally The Tale of the Lucky Four Leaf Clover, this DVD has 83 minutes of entertainment. My little Misses have declared this DVD "the best ever" and have watched it every opportunity they have had for a week. With a few sick days home from school Miss Six and Miss Seven have both enjoyed watching this in preference to their other DVD's.
We have a lot of discussion with Miss Six about what is real and what is not and this DVD has definitely inspired their imagination and play. Miss Three can often be overheard acting out with her stuffed Peter Rabbit Toy some of the stories.
We have a lovely Beatrix Potter book of many of her stories and have been reading this over the week so the girls have a good appreciation for the real stories that this DVD is based on. The music is really catchy and I think it is well suited to the stories. The DVD is a great tie in with the Beatrix Potter stories and I think watching the DVD's and seeing Peter Rabbit and his friends come to life in 3D animation has inspired the girls to listen to the stories in Beatrix Potters book. We have really enjoyed this DVD and I would definitely recommend it not just for preschoolers but for young children also.
