I've got to say, grapefruit doesn't appear to be a fruit that I enjoy, as proven by this drink! I got quite a bit of kick out of this drink with just a small amount, because my dad was the first to try this, and he said that it was a bit tart, so I decided to use a wine-testing cup to try it, and it sure did give me a wake-up buzz! The taste WAS rather tart, so to me it tasted like the brewers just chucked piles of grapefruit into a blender, and then sold it, as the bitterness reminded me of the taste of fruit skins.

I think that, to anyone who isn't a grapefruit fan, that it may be an idea to mix this stuff with some sugar in order to return the sweetness. That same idea will probably apply to using this drink for baking. With some added sweetness, and enough dry ingredients in the recipe to counteract the wetness, this drink could make some awesome muffins or cakes, and if you boil the drink down into a syrup, it could be used as part of the icing!

To me, at least, the flavour is a bit unpleasant, so the bottle may last a while. The quantity of the drink is excellent, it will provide enough drink to try some of the theories I have talked about in this review. The price is great, the fact that there was so much pulp at the bottom gives the truth that this drink is very natural, which bumps up the value enough to be worthy of the given price.

I have very fond memories eating grapefruit for breakfast as a child. I have always loved the taste of grapefruit so when I was offered a bottle of Lothlorien Poor Man's Orange to review I leapt at the chance. I had lots of ideas in my head of what I would use the juice for: mocktails, sorbet, iceblocks, cupcakes, marmalade, grapefruit curd, and more. The reality is none of this happened because I drank it all over the course of a week without any help.

Being pure grapefruit juice I expected it to be very tart and pulpy but it wasn't anywhere as tart as expected especially given that it is pure fruit juice with no sugar added. There was no pulp in it so it was nice to be able to drink without having to strain all the bits through my teeth. I found it was too strong to drink straight (but I am the same with pure orange juice too) so I did 2/3 juice, 1/3 water. This was very pleasant for me. My daughters (3.5 and 5) wanted to try some but after a sip their facial expressions showed me that it wasn't for them. That didn't worry me as it meant I could enjoy it all to myself.

My favourite way to drink this delicious organic grapefruit juice was 1/3 juice to 2/3 lemonade. This reminded me of Sparkling Duet but much nicer and I knew it didn't have artificial colours. Drinking it this way also allowed the bottle of juice to last longer. This drink is definitely Mummy's treat and I am pleased to know that it won't be stolen by the others in the house. The price means it is not going to be a staple in our house but it reflects that this is certified organic and hand squeezed.
