What a Girl Wants is a delightful movie about Daphne, a young girl who lives in China Town with her mother. Every year she has made a wish on her birthday that her dad would come and find her. This year, she's off to find him. She jets off to London and tries to change herself so that she can have a relationship with her father, but is it doomed to fail when she was born to stand out?
Amanda Bynes does a great job as Daphne, a duck out of water. Her mother is played by Kelly Preston and her father by Colin Firth, while they share very little screen time together, they make a lovely on-screen couple.
This is a fun movie, it does get a little bit old if you watch it too many times in a year, but every now and again it is a delightful movie that has a decent amount of laughs and a few tears shed. I think this is one of Amanda Bynes best movies and it's great for a family night movie.
