A zombie film!! It's your usual, run-of-the-mill zombie film in which people turn into crazed, human eating monsters and the few who survive create lots of blood and gore whilst hacking their way through the undead and try to make it through the day so that eventually they can re-build the human race. I do however feel that 28 Days Later has more of a focus on the rebuilding and emotional side of things than on the chopping people apart part.
I didn't really find this a scary movie, beyond the typical things suddenly lunging at the screen to make you jump moments, but did find the people and what they were going through, the problems arising from the 'need' to repopulate etc. haunting for want of a better word.
The special effects, as you can guess, are predominantly the zombies and the blood and core that comes as part of the package. All way done well to create sufficiently creepy zombies. My husband loves this movie, I'm not a particular fan of zombie films, but this one isn't too bad.
