To: Samuel Shute Esq.
Governor of Massachusetts

My Dear Samuel,
In my mission to rid the high seas of verminous piratical villains, I have obtained the assistance of a certain Captain Carlton, as wicked and shameless a pirate as ever sailed these waters, whom I have been lucky enough to cpature.
He has provided me with an accurate description of how pirates manage their ships. It is my hope that by understanding more about the lives of these scurvy creatures, we may be better placed to outwit them.
I am also sending you a model of his pirate vessel, the Swiftbuck, which my ship's carpenters have created from card, so that you will be able to identify her when she sails into port.
I remain, sir, your obedient servant,
Captain William Lubber.
The Sea Cat.
This ultimate companion volume includes a 24-page guide to life on board a pirate ship plus a ready-to-assemble pirate ship model.

I got this for my youngun, who thought it was absolutely brilliant. The verdict was that the book was really interesting and full of neat pictures that have been used as inspiration for an entire scrapbook full of kiddie artwork, and the model was really lots of fun to build, and even more fun to play with.
The lack of pirate dolls was a little bit of a let-down, but when taken in line with the 'letter' on the back cover of the box, it makes a lot of sense, and the use of a couple of sets of MagnoMen quickly solved that problem.
This was a really good choice, and kids of all ages will love it. It even has an educational factor in it, since a lot of the info in the book is actually historically accurate, as far as we can know. ![]()
