The Invisible Man product reviews

The Invisible Man is a classic H. G. Wells story that focuses on a scientist that was devoted to turning himself invisible but once he has done so fails to reverse the effect and then uses his ability of not being seen for uses that are not good. I was extremely excited to see this rendition of the Invisible man and to see what twists it may have but I must say I regret watching the trailer to the film as there is a certain clip in the trailer that gave away far too much information and I basically figured out exactly the secret behind the Invisibility.

The film was directed by Leigh Whannell who I have known from his movie Upgrade which was absolutely fantastic, full of action and had an amazing storyline so I already had a certain expectation of how I felt The Invisible Man should be. Elizabeth Moss plays the Leading role of Cecilia Who flees from her abusive partner who was very controlling of her and he presumably takes his own life and she doubts it is real and believes it to all be a hoax. After mysterious things begin happening she starts to try to prove someone is out to get her that can't be seen. Elizabeth Moss plays this role so well and actually creates a lot of the tension throughout the film through her emotions that you can relate to the fear and almost believe you are in this situation too.

The cinematography is very well shot that the way the camera pans around and the wide shots really make you start questioning is someone there you cannot see and you come to your own conclusions in certain shots and it really adds to the suspense of the film. this movie really does play well into the fact that what you cannot see is truly scarier than what you can see. There are some flaws in the film, that are to be expected with the nature of the plot, that are questionable and don't add up but I won't get into them as it could spoil too much.

Overall I really enjoyed this movie and thought it was an excellent take on the original story with a modern twist which was definitely ruined in the trailer. I really enjoyed the slow build-up of the tense scenes within the first two-thirds of the movie but once you find out the twist it loses all mystery. There is one thing they kept secret throughout the trailer and surprised me in the film which I didn't see coming. I recommend this film to anyone who enjoys horror thrillers and suspense.
