Product reviews...
I have always loved earthwise products, the shampoos, cleaning products and more. When I saw they had a Lavender air freshener I was pretty excited to be honest. We use cloth nappies on two children and they can get quite smelly in the bathroom and we have open homes at the moment so having people walk around and smell nappies isn't a good look.
When I look at the product its design in simple yet eye appealing, the bottle looks fresh and when you spray it around it smells great. The bathroom smelt fresh and good, noone would know we had cloth nappies in there, the house smells great for open homes. I love that this product is gentle yet very efficient for a air freshener, its a gentle spray which doesnt irritate our water dragons which is very important.
The smell lasts a while until we open doors then it disappears, which isnt a bad thing as you don't need a lot to start off with. Its easy for the kids to spray in their bedrooms, and I have found because it is lavender if I spray it into their bedrooms at night my oldest sleeps better too which is two birds one stone. The price isnt too bad considering I can buy something else for the same price that doesnt work as good, so this one gets a green tick from us.
I think this air freshener is one of the best if not the best product that Earthwise has produced. The fragrance is long lasting, and works. With teenage children, dogs, cats, and a husband with a physical job this poor product had it's work cut out for it. But my house is fragrant and fresh again. The people at Earthwise have managed the near impossible task of marrying together an air freshener which does it's job but doesn't over power the house.
The wild lavender smell is divine, I am a fan of the Scully's lavender products, and too me the scents are the same. Lavender is such a lovely aroma, I took it to work and sprayed the air in the infant's sleep room, the children seemed to sleep longer, and I felt happy using the Lavender spray as it was all natural, and lavender itself has germ killing properties, so to me this is the perfect product to use in a household or around small children. I am actually going to see if there is a lavender washing powder as I would love my clothes to come out of the wash with this fragrance clinging to them.
I did the ultimate test of faith and sprayed my teenager's room, who works with fish, and like all teens is not the tidiest or cleanest of people, and this even freshened and cleared the teenage aroma, which is no easy task. Personally, I like that I can control the usage, as it is a pump activated spray bottle, rather than an aerosol, and I was very surprised by the price, at $5 it is fantastic value for money, and the product like all Earthwise products is recyclable, which is brilliant. This is made in New Zealand and is cruelty free so it ticks a lot of boxes for New Zealand consumers.
In a garden shed in Orini, New Zealand back in 1967 a motion to create products that were better for people and the environment began and ever since Earthwise sticks to producing natural products. I am very familiar with the Earthwise range and use numerous products from them for the very reason that they are natural, cruelty-free and made in New Zealand.
The first thing that draws me to the Earthwise brand is their simplistic down to earth design which really suits what they are about. I really like how the products are also colour-suited to the scents as in purple for lavender, yellow for lemon and so forth. Although this is a natural plant-based product it is still recommended to keep out of the reach of children and is handy that it also has a lockout tab on the trigger.
The fragrance of this spray is perfect for refreshing the air and lavender is a lovely scent that is relaxing, calming and pleasant.Great for using anywhere in the house as the smell is subtle and not overpowering. Because I spend a good portion of time on my computer this has become the home for this spray bottle as it helps me relax and focus on any task at hand. This product is priced similarly to other air fresheners but offers more value in my opinion.
I recommend this product to anyone that is environmentally conscious, supports New Zealand made products and wants to simply brighten up their day.
I have always loved the smell of lavender and it is very common in air fresheners so it wasn't surprising to see that Earthwise had a wild lavender scented air freshener. As we would expect from Earthwise it is free from harsh chemicals and propellants. Instead it is in a pump bottle.which can be recycled. You are also able to see the level of air freshener so know when it is time to buy a new bottle. It is also able to be kept in the car, something I wouldn't risk with an aerosol in summer.
As lavender is known for its calming properties I thought this would be a good air freshener to use in the bedroom. We have an elderly cat that spends most of her time in our bedroom and as a result we also have her litter tray in there too so our bedroom often doesn't smell the best. I have got into the habit of spraying the air freshener in the room before I retire for the night. Although it doesn't contain essential oils my brain is tricked into thinking it does. The smell of the litter tray is hidden and I can get a good nights sleep.Since I have been doing this my husband hasn't been complaining about the smell. As the scent is subtle he hasn't commented on the smell of it like he does with most air fresheners I have used in the past.
My girls, 7 and 9 years old, have also been using it when others have left the toilet smelling. They find the trigger easy to use and I feel they use much less than they would if they had been using an aerosol. There is also a lock on the trigger which is handy for stopping younger children using it or when transporting the bottle in your gym bag.
Lavender is a smell that always reminds me of my youth. When I was younger, I would stay with my nan on the weekends. She had a dresser for my clothes, and she used to line the drawers with lavender scented paper. I loved spending time with my nan so the smell has always had positive associations for me.
The scent of this product is subtle. Much like the other scents in the range, they are gentle and aren't likely to induce headaches or be offensive to the nostrils. I'm not too sure what the "wild" part of the wild lavender name means, but the fragrance does seem to have a bit of a grassy hint to it.
The product comes in a smooth whitish translucent bottle, a look that most Earthwise products have in common, and the top is colour coded with purple for lavender, so you can quickly identify it. I love the locking mechanism, and the entire spray function of the bottle feels firm and durable. When you spray it, the moving parts in the handle/spray top don't jam, they don't squeak. It works very well. The product doesn't leak, and it even has little indentations in the handle to make gripping it easier. The whole thing was very well designed.
The scent does have quite a limited range. It takes several sprays for it to have a noticeable aroma in the room, and it fades rather quickly. I did find that while it faded quickly, the bad odours faded quickly too, never outlasting the air freshener, so in reality, it lasts only as long as it needs to. If you were to use this in a smelly area where you were likely to need to use it a lot, this product may not be the ideal choice, as the liquid could dampen furniture or flooring if the spray is overused. It that case, an aerosol product may be better. But in most cases, this product will be the job well, and in a way that reduces environmental impact.
I like having the option to pick a product that doesn't have harsh chemicals and comes in a reusable and recyclable container. No unnecessary packaging is involved in the product, and the price is fair too. A great company that I would not fear being associated with.
I have always loved the smell of lavender. I had an elderly aunt who used to dry it and put it into little sachets and give them to all her nieces and great-nieces. Those sachets lived in our wardrobes and seemed to hold their perfume for months or until the next crop of lavender was harvested and dried. So I was delighted that I was able to review this air freshener as it took me straight back to my childhood!
Just after I collected it, I had to transport some rather musty coffee grounds in my car. The smell was quite overpowering so I thought I would test out the lavender spray and see if it helped. I have had items before like that, and have learned from experience that even though you might get rid of the offending item, the odour persists, sometimes for weeks. So I sprayed a generous amount of lavender around the area where the coffee had been placed, and closed up the car to see what would happen.
Next morning I drove to work without thinking about the coffee. I had completely forgotten about the offensive odour until I was driving home that evening and spotted the spray bottle, still on the car seat where I had left it. I was amazed - the bad smell had dissipated so completely that I had forgotten it was ever there. That was success indeed.
A couple of days later I bought some fresh fish for dinner. I had forgotten to put my chilly bin back in the car so the fish had to travel home wrapped only in a plastic bag. As you can imagine, that caused another assault on the senses as fish, fresh though it might be, is not the most endearing smell in the world. I still had the lavender spray in the car so after I had taken the fish into the house and put it away, I went back and gave the car the lavender treatment again.
Next morning, there was not a hint of odour left in the car. Again, the spray had done its job and annihilated all traces of any unpleasantness. There was even a very slight hint of lavender in the front seat. So no prizes for guessing what I did with that bottle. It now lives permanently in my car, ready for action next time I have to transport something stinky. I won't mention a certain little boy's sneakers, but they are high on the list of possible offenders!
