My Little Miss 7 has been asking lots of questions about Goosebumps recently since seeing the ads on Nickelodeon and as I know she loves activity books I thought this would be perfect for her. Unfortunately I would have to say it is a little advanced for her. Where as she could do a lot of the puzzles and enjoy the jokes I found some of the puzzles where definitely aimed for older children. Also the crosswords answers all had to do with the movies/books which stumped us as we have not read/seen any of them yet.
I have to admit I sat down with the book and had great fun in trying to break the codes. Where as I could break three of them I was stumped on the other two. My youngest enjoys the spot the difference puzzles and we have had lots of laughs as we race to find as many differences as we could. There are definitely some fun activities to be had in this book. But then there are other puzzles like the Brain Teaser which really hurts to think about.
I love the variety of puzzles and it really is good value considering that you receive stickers as well. One of the best activity books I have seen in a while, it's just a pity that we could not finish all of the puzzles. But on the plus there are the answers located at the back of the book.
With the Goosebumps movie out for the school holiday break, this book is the perfect way to keep your little ghouls and boys entertained. See what I did there? My daughter has been angling to see the movie for a few weeks now, but so far she hasn't had any luck. In the meantime she has been flipping through some of the Goosebumps goodies from Scholastic.
This activity book has been a winner. The combination of her actually missing school! And wanting to learn more about the monsters and do a few quizzes, has meant this book has had a thrashing. Inside the book is a series of fun activities - jokes, code breaking, pattern matching, quizzes, fill the blanks and word finds.
Some of the puzzles were a bit too hard for Miss 8. She struggles with spelling so this was to be expected. However, some of the games were fun for her to do and if I was around, I could also lend a hand and share in the joke we were uncovering. At the core of the activities, I could see that there was a lot of learning going on. All the activities are loosely hiding English language practice and the mathematics of pattern recognition. So while all she could see was fun, I could see the benefit of her using this book during the longer summer holidays to keep her mind whirring.
The book is about A4 in size. The pages are all in full colour, but the paper is matte and easy to write on. The backgrounds look like blood or tire marks, and there are gruesome monster pictures as well as photo stills from the movie sprinkled throughout. There are 90 pages of activities and then the last few pages are an answer key, so you can check your work. For $12 it's a bit dearer than a specific school skills activity book, but it's presented in a fun and unique way which should excite kids more.

Much-recommended by new mothers, this is the only book you'll need for the best baby advice Refreshingly honest, openly frank and candidly blunt, this book has been written by a mother for other mothers. It oozes with warm fuzzies, it reeks of mumsy terms, it exudes realism in every paragraph and it is refreshing in its guiltless honesty.
Modern first-time mothers are often alone - devoid of once traditional motherhood knowledge ... more...
