I have a leap pad 2 which my boys were fighting over as neither one wanted to take turns or let his brother have a longer turn so when I was in Toyworld and saw the leap pad 3 in stock I had to have a look and see what was different and if it would be worth buying one. Well obviously I bought one and now they have a leap pad 2 and 3 so that should be the end of the fights but now they are both wanting the leap pad 3.

What I do like is that it has rechargeable batteries that are part of the tablet so I don't have to keep buying batteries and trying to find the charger to keep it charged and that it is kid safe wifi so even if I do lose the usb cable I can still download apps direct to the leap pad and the other big advantage is that all 3 kids can have a user account so that their progress is saved.

I notice that the styllus has a soft tip instead of the hard one at the end of the leap pad 2 so the screen shouldn't end up with scratches on it like the older one has but that does take a bit of getting used to. I did try the game cartridges in the new one to see if it would work and to my pleasure it did so that the games can be played on either tablet and I didn't need to make a new account with the leap pad connect app so I guess that will be an advantage as well. I also the way the styllus tucks into the casing now and is more protected from damage.

I have had a quick look at how easy it would be to download new games and ebooks onto the leap pad 3 and it is so easy that my almost 7 year old is asking for new games for his birthday. I really like how the games are all educational and have goals in mind but the kids think they are just playing and don't realise how much they are actually learning.

The camera is clearer than the old one so pictures and videos are better but at least they did keep a lot of things the same, you don't have to learn a complete new way of doing things.

Highly recommended to other parents of young kids as they would learn heaps just by having fun.
