I did find that this book was rather predictable a young child gets a puppy as a birthday present and has to learn that it is a huge responsibility to look after a puppy and provide for it and as expected the puppy gets lost on a walk.
The story itself was well written, you could imagine the girl's disappointment and worry and how the parents tried to reassure her that things happen. The author also incorporated the puppy's thoughts or what we would hope he was thinking especially when he wasn't reunited immediately with his young owner.
I really liked the ending but know that realistically that doesn't happen often. This would be a good book to read to kids who keep pestering for pets but then I'm not sure the kids would realise the moral of the story. This was a short enough story and lucky there aren't pictures that some publishers use to try and make it look like a longer story.
