My mum gave my eldest daughter Clifford's Christmas Presents for her first Christmas. She was too small then to appreciate it then but the following Christmas (17 months old) it was a huge hit. We have now had the book four years and although she has outgrown it it remains a favourite with her little sister (just turned three) and my younger home-based care-kids.
The storyline is very basic. It's Christmas time and Clifford is helping choose presents and decorate the tree. The exciting factor about the book is the flaps. The reader is asked questions throughout about where something could be or what is hiding? After listening to the story a couple of times the kids are yelling the answer at me. There are several flaps on each page which adds to the excitement.
After all the time this book has been handled by toddlers I can't believe what good condition it is still in. I haven't repaired any of the flaps. It definitely helps that it is a board book. This book is a great Christmas gift for a child around 18 months of age.

As a young girl, Ani Choying escaped her violent home for a monastery in Nepal. One day, an American jazz guitarist heard the young nun sing and was so enthralled by her voice that he recorded an album with her. The pay cheque enabled Ani Choying to open the Arya Tara School, just outside Kathmandu, offering shelter and education to sixty disadvantaged girls. Ani Choying now tours the world giving concerts, driven by her desire to help her young Nepalese charges. In Singing for Freedom, she tells her shocking and inspiring story.
