As a kid I always got the second hand toys my big brother had grown out of and our little brother got the toys after me but there was always one toy none of us ever grew out of, Lego. When I left home I gave it all to our little brother and never bought any myself because it is so expensive.
Now that my first child is reaching the age where building toys are a good thing and not a way to choke themselves with I want to get him something like that but without the massive price tag. I was really pleased to get a shot at reviewing this Cobi stuff as it looked really good but I was worried it was going to be cheap crap like the Banbao stuff I bought off a website a while ago when it was on clearance.
I shouldnt have worried because this stuff is solid and sturdy. Just as good as the other good brands in all the important ways it also has a lot more appeal because as far as I can tell you get more pieces for a smaller price tag and just like other construction toys like K'Nex and Lego, it is made to fit with all the other stuff like it, which pretty much means it all fits to Lego standard.
This was a really cool model to make and my boy and I spent hours building it together, taking it apart and building other stuff before rebuilding the chopper. I was really pleased with how smooth the rotors spun without being all loose and wobbly and ready to fall off if you sneezed hard. He wants to get more of it and after playing with this set I think we just might. My little brother is 26 now and he still uses the Lego to build amazing things just for fun. I would love to give my boy something that still holds all the magic and love for his kids and their kids after them.
The only thing I had issue with was in a few places the instructions arent very clear because of how some pieces are laid inside other structures already built making it hard to see when you miss a piece but thats half the fun of toys like this. You can just bodge it up to make it work and its all good!

The leader of the Yard Crew, Mike the Mower is a cut above the rest, with his hard-working, can-do attitude. When preschoolers push him along, he comes to life with 12 fun phrases. His realistic lawnmower sounds and animated mouth with "grass- chompin" action are sure to be a hit. Pretend grass swirls around a clear chamber and a simple snap-on handle makes for easy portability. Three AA batteries are included.
