It was with great excitement that I received this album, ripped it from it's packagaing, and threw it into the CD player, cranked it up, and prepared to be blown away, like I was, seeing Jonezetta Live, and listening to their previous release: Popularity.
I was surprised to hear what came out.
Since their last album was released, Jonezetta's syle has changed almost as much as their lineup has, (Jonezetta acquired a new Drummer and Keyboardist in 2007). From the society-shocking techno-pop-rock of Popularity, the abrupt change to the more Alternative Rock taste of Cruel To Be Young was breathtaking.
I'm not sure why the change in flavour for this band, but as shocking as it was, it is not a bad change. The songs have the same smooth tastes, and lyrical creativity, that carry the passion of the band.
This is an album I would reccomend to anyone who likes alternative music, who likes Jonezetta, or for someone who's looking for that special something in a band, that non-mainstream something new.
This album is available online, through the iTunes store, or thru the Tooth & Nail website, among others.
