I so absolutely love this little mutt! I have had an iPod for a while now and usually have to steal the speakers off my pc if I want to listen to music without the headphones. Now I just plug my speakerpup into the 'pod and I am away groovin to the tunes. Sure there are speakers out there cheaper but none that look as cool, dance and flash along to the sounds. I am not a great fan of the need to pet it and give it attention but really it doesnt matter if it gets 'sad' because you just hit the reset button and move along. A totally neat toy, a great desktop accessory, and an awesome set of speakers. I have heard the old dog play and it was tinny and all treble where as this dog has finally drop a pair, of speakers in and they handle bass. Stunning little mutt.
At last! Not only has our beloved noisy little cyberpooch grown up in features, but also in sound!
In its previous incarnation the i-Dog was cute, but quiet, and like all puppies, had no bass rumble. Well, now the puppy is a big dog, and can really chunk out that bass beat with a wider frequency range, bigger volume, and now in stereo! On top of that, this little fella can now bust a few new moves.
As well as the usual rocking his head and wiggling his ears, there is now nodding, tapping his front-right paw, and wagging his tail, which also serves as the volume control and also a short-term mute button... but he doesn't like it when you tell him to hush, so you'll get a growl first.
This is still a desktop toy for adults, and a nifty i-Pet for the kids, but it certainly has improved a lot since v1... Well done Tiger and Hasbro... now if you'd care to Amp up the rest of the range, I'd love to see the i-Cat and i-Cy get Amp'd... but I say "So long, and no thanks for more fish."
Overall, about the same price as the first version, but three times the sound... stereo is great, but instead of left/right, you have chest/back so you may need to tweak your ears a bit to get used to sounds moving up and down instead of side to side. If your kids are nagging for some speakers, or you want something a little smaller and cooler to attach to your PC than standard speakers... you'd be hard pressed to find something more fun than this! Just make sure you leave plenty of space around the tail and ears... You can even disable the motors to avoid having whirring noises interrupting that awesome guitar solo...
